In Antelope Canyon
Horseshoe Bend

March 4 – 6, 2017

We will go for three days and two nights and visit Lake Powell, tour Glen Canyon Dam, hike in scenic Antelope Canyon and visit a church service. The cost is $95 (cash only, please) plus three or four meals which are not included in the fee. Payment is due by March 1st. Sign up and pay at the Friday Bridges meetings. If you can’t pay at a Bridges meeting, Bridges staff will be at the Starbucks in the MU from noon to 5:30pm on Wednesday, March 1st for last minute payments. Email info@asubridges.club with questions.

We will be traveling in various personal vehicles – not a bus or large rented van. Regarding our lodging, we have arranged for two houses that are usually rented out for people on vacation. Each of the has beds for 7-9 people. We also have reservations at a local motel if we have more people going than the houses can hold. We might also have 1 or 2 of us bring a sleeping bag, but that sort of depends on how many people sign up. But the lodging is all in Page, AZ.

See an important note about visiting Antelope Canyon near the bottom.

Schedule of Activities

Saturday, March 4th – Leave the church where the Friday night Bridges meetings are held (map) at 8:00 in the morning. (Sorry, but we will not be able to leave bicycles inside over the weekend.) We’ll stop in Flagstaff where each of you may get your own lunch. When we get to Page, we will go on a tour of Glen Canyon Dam. (This is free.)

Sunday, March 5th – We’ll have breakfast in the morning and then attend a local church service. After church, they are going to provide lunch for us and then have some games, volleyball, etc. Depending on how long we are at the church, we might go to Lake Powell for some kayaking or sight seeing. We will all have dinner together – included in your fee.

Monday, March 6th – After breakfast we will clean up and pack up. After lunch we’ll leave for Antelope Canyon somewhere between 12:00-1:00 and take a tour of the canyon. After that, we’ll go to Horseshoe Bend for sight-seeing. These are the two big attractions in the Page area. When we’re done, we’ll head home, probably stopping in Flagstaff where you can get dinner before the rest of the trip back to Tempe. We expect to be back at the church in Tempe around 10:00 or 11:00, depending upon how soon your vehicle leaves Horseshoe Bend to start the trip back.

Additional Notes – Check the weather for Page, Arizona and pack clothes and jackets accordingly. It will definitely be cooler there than here in Tempe.

Important information provided by Antelope Canyon Tour personnel

After paying for the tour (this cost has already been paid in your Bridges trip registration) you will have colored boarding tickets, this is just our way of sorting everyone onto the tour trucks. Your vehicle will be parked near our office for the entire time. We then load our Tour Trucks and transport you to the canyon, the drive time to the canyon is 20 minutes; 10 minutes on the paved road and then we go off-road within the wash of Antelope Canyon for an additional 10 minutes (slightly bumpy/dusty ride).

After arriving at the Upper Antelope Canyon we will all get off the truck and proceed with the tour; the driver is your guide, she or he will walk with the group the entire time – the walk through the canyon is 1/4 mile in and then we turn around and the same 1/4 mile back to the tour trucks. While in the canyon our guide will tell you about the canyon and also make very helpful suggestions for photos in the Upper Antelope Canyon. Time on-site is 50-60 minutes to enjoy the awesome beauty of the Upper Antelope Canyon.
Time flies when you’re having fun so please don’t be too sad when it’s time for us to go. We then load up on the same truck and ride the same 20 minutes back to the office. This concludes the tour which runs 90-100 minutes
